December 31, 2008

We booked a Volvo bus to and fro journey from Bangalore to Mercara(Madikeri). [Coorg is also known as Kodai and madikeri is its headquarters.].KSRTC  has its station on this name.

Reached Madikeri next day morning at 5.00am(around 5 hrs journey). We stayed at GreenHaven hotel.. about 5 min walk from main busstop.Around 11am we  rented a bike(around 300per day advance excluded) and set off for a jolly ride.

We visited Omkaraswera Temple. It has some historical significance, and then went for AbbeyFalls. It’s a great picturesque location. To our luck, there was a Kannada film shooting going on at the wooden bridge. Huh!!! The crew was frenzy at the tourist enthusiasm and had a nice time warding them off..hehe!!!!

Juicy oranges with a dash of red chillis put our tongues on fire. Nevertheless the tea walla did quench our thirst.Slowly, light drizzles changed to a heavy downpour. We were cursing our decision for picking up a bike. Nevertheless, it stopped in 15min and we set out for a 40km ride to Dubare, a famous place for elephant rides and white water rafting.

We travelled around an hour and reached Dubare around 3pm. Had lunch at Dubare Inn and set out for still water rafting .It costs around 250 per head. White water rafting is around 600bucks and is conducted only when Cauvery is in full flow during monsoons. Nevertheless it was a spinechilling experience. The guide was very sportive ..I realized how scraed I was in the water inspite of being a beginner level swimmer. The best part was encounter with a 10ft phyton. It was sedated and the local forest officers were taking it ashore. Eeish!!! I can still feel the sliminess of its skin..

We couldn’t travel to Buddhist monastery and we were already tired and headed back to Madikere. Again the bike ride was both exhilarating and scary if one isn’t accustomed to drive on the ghats. We sang all along the way and had a hot tea sip with garam pakore.. aaah!!! This was a very rejoicing moment.

Next day, we had choice either to head to NagarholeNationalPark(98 km from Madikere) or towards ThalaCauvery.(40km from Madikere). Me being the decision maker chose a jungle safari rather than the temple visits. (Worst decision ever made.). We rented taxi (costed us 1500 bucks) as 200km bike drive  seemed a tire for us. We travelled for 2.5 hrs and landed at the Irrupu falls.

This was the best part of Coorg journey, A km walk into the lush green jungles, brooks of white sparkling streams and the gurgling sounds of water beside … aah such a wonderful experience..It was also a bit dangerous to walk on the slippery rocks  and take a dip in the chilled waters. This was also my near to death experience as I slipped on the rocks but thank God didn’t fall into the waters.Half an hour from here we went to the Nagarhole natopnal park and discovered that we were late for the first evening  ride that starts at 3:30. Hence waited until 5 to get into the next safari. In the meantime caught up with the local crowd who offered us sweet watermelons.. It was so stomach filling.Huh!!!!! This was a total disaster as we only saw deers and wild boar. Dissapointed we headed back for a 3 hr journey back to Coorg..

Reached around 9pm . Had dinner and headed to the 11:00 bus from Madikere.

Fashion isn’t so fashionable

December 22, 2008

Typical village belle all set to tread the challenging paths in a bid to realise her dreams, the much guessable  traps she falls into, the attitude and brick-bats she learns as she climbs the ladder, wardrobe malfunctions and the increasinlgly acceptance of gay culture in the modern era……

Huh!!..aren’t we sick of these concepts..This time Madhur Bhandarkar fails to impress.A sensational topic but handled in a very immature way.At a point, the movie goes haywire focusing on stuff that cud happen to anyone irrespective of fashion industry.

Poor comedy, unimpressive script, sick casting couch concept, wealthy high class married men bedding new faces in the market, unrelated scenes in the midst of nowhere, an expected climax(Phew!! the movie doesnt have any..) and lack of  powerful artists all contribute to the failure of a good storyline..

Priyanka cud have been the saving grace, had she finetuned her acting skills. She couldn’t potray all the emotions needed for the powerful n versatile role. Suits more for a model than an actress. She has already begun to show signs of aging as well.Going back to the industry after being battered to death of a character, but with modesty n humbleness is the least twist one can expect .

Kangana is always shown  stressed out, indulging in dope n drinks, finally losing her life to the habits she caught up within the industry.. Mugdha Godse seems a hot babe… Cleavage and smoke rule the roost in the movie..

Few good dialogues:

–Achieving success is not  just the end of game, one has to know how to handle it as well.

—You feel most lonely in ur life when your own conscience abandons you

Valentine’s visit to earth

December 18, 2008

One fine day, lord valentine himself, descends down the sky, to find out the happiest person in love.

After a long search among the most prospective couples, he zeroes in on three  couples.

He finds the first couple seated in a lonely corner of the earth, gazing into each others eyes, lost in each others arms ,exchanging sweet promises.he asks the lady what is the best thing bout his man. She replies he is the most faithful and romantic of  all lovers.

He finds the second couple in a hospital ward where a man is seen holding his girls hand trying to give her warmth and   comfort. he is frantically running in and out the room to console his ailing girlfriend and showering her with roses ,chocolates and sweet kisses. He asks the lady same question and finds out that he is the most supportive and caring of men god has ever created.

He finds the third couple in a kitchen with the man helping his wife knead the dough  by working with his own hands too . Lord finds out from her that he is the most helpful and understanding of men.

Satisfied with his search , on his way back heaven, he finds a couple constantly fighting with each other, arguing, exchanging bad words, totally out of the picture of an ideal couple. Lord asks the much patient and bearing woman, why she is ever interested in being in the relationship. She replies although we are often quarelling, we  are the perfect one, the best among the three above. We really don’t need an occasion to tell that we love each other coz love will always be there between us and that he was her eternal, forever love.

The Deserted Girl…

December 18, 2008

I see a lady walking along the beach….
Lost in herself,  Lost in translation…
with the invisible guy; whose footsteps once glorified the sand impressions which seemed so empty now
whose shadow she loved following and  played hide n seek with the  inseperable silhouette
She was sitting in a group where enthusiasm n excitement knew no bounds..
Even the gleam in her eyes couldn’t belie the  artificial smile and the  made up glamour..
She was perhaps searching for that soothing smile which once made all her strain go away…
whose words she knew had such a pacifying effect that cud make her …

I then  saw her in a jubiliant dance troupe..
Dressed in a shimmering red outfit that exuded her spark for dance
She danced with every guy who asked her hand..
But…
Her style suggested that she was looking for a little romance
Rather the guy who  cud invoke  the passion element in her
With whom she cud rediscover the latent feminism in her
As she sat lonely on the bench, her longing gaze at the couples speeding on bikes..
hinted me of a nostalgic feeling in her..
She told me how she forgot the world when she sat behind him with closed eyes n cuddled hug
To completely trust a person who can just lead her when her eyes closed

I prayed…God give her  one more chance.. coz this was her first romance

PDA woes

June 17, 2008

Phew!!!!! Never knew PDA’s have to be taken such special care.

This in in regards to getting my IMate PDAL serviced for a cost of 3000Re inspite of the device coming under warranty .After repeatedly calling the service centre guys , I found out that there was only one centre in the whole of Bangalore i.e in Jayanagar 4th block. Not only that it’s the only servicing centre in the whole of south region, although it had collection points in the other parts of Southern India.

After about 1.45 minutes of toil in the BMTC buses, I finally reached the destination and reported that my screen alignment wasn’t happening properly. The sales head over there examined the device and showed me all the scratches and spots that the touchscreen had developed due to my negligence.(I never knew one is supposed to use a screen protector for touch screen devicesL). It would cost a cool 3000 bucks as the the no. 2.4 clause showed by him in the warranty sheet stated that the physical damage to the screen doesn’t come under warranty.

After negotiating with him for the cost he only agreed to go by the actual cost by not giving me a bill thus removing the sales tax implied on the cost. I was initially apprehensive of this but then later on inquired with my friends and the other Mobile sales guys to find that it costs 3000 only.

Anyways, I got few good tips from the manager on regards to how PDA’s life can be extended.
1.Use only trusted TPS(Third Party Softwares). Preferably the SPB PDA solutions, as any damage done to device OS by the TPS also do not come under warranty.
2.All Li-Cd ion batteries life starts ticking away once they come out of manufacturing line. They serve a max of 300-500 cycles(one cycle=one complete charge and discharge cycle ).So life of batteries can be increased by not allowing it to completely dischare and a max of 2.5 hrs of daily charging is enough to last them for a year as per normal usage
2. Do not charge the battery with PC USB but use the standard power supply charger, as the battery takes 1800mA of current but the former case

The Happening drives…..

June 17, 2008

Manoj N. Shyamalan does it again. Kudos to this living legend whose creativity quotient is unmatched in the Sci-fi movie genre. If you thought ‘Sixth Sense’ and ‘The invincibles’ made you wonder about the unnatural, mysterious forces acting upon human kind, this movie is all set to outdo them all…

A simple phenomena about how the grey matter’s defensive signals can get counter attacked by a typical plant kingdoms stimuli response mechanism and inturn lead to a forced suicidal behavior in humans is what Mr. Manojs latest flick talks about. I didn’t feel scary during the whole course of the movie but had nightmares due to which I had to go late to work.

For those of you who are expecting to get a glimpse of Shyamalan in this movie, I wud like to leak the secret, he is none other than Joey(the actress extramarital character who viewers thought was introduced for namesake for he is nowhere seen in the movie) . This is not a typical Manoj movie behaviour.I found this in imdb.

Pssstt!!!!…I have a secret desire to meet this director in person. God are you listening????

Every child is indeed very special

December 25, 2007

I guess this movie should be given the movie of the millenium award.A theme so unconventional, a story so rare, a boy who is talented enough to potray the dyslexic character in him.

Over and above all, kudos to aamir khan for bringing forth a much untouched genre of film industry–the children. He is infact richly rewarded for playing with a risky, sensitive topic.

I was really reminded of my childhood.I wont call this movie funfilled, sensational or amazing, but it is simply thought-provoking. Parents making their children a mannenquins for their unfelt desires is a very common scenarion nowadays, but the subtleness with which Darsheel plays the role of a disturbed child is mind blowing. A laugh hearty enugh to create ripples of smiles on audience, tears realistic enugh to make people cry, behaviour smart enough to keep audience go gaga over him. This is what Master  Darsheel is in a nut shell.

May every child in this world get his due of happiness!!!!!

Awakening the company HR policy:The guy on my desktop

August 1, 2007

hrtthrob.jpgWell this blog is about the cute guy on my desktop. I wonder how do employees ever refrain themselves from looking at their monitor ,

Ummm… . a nice way to fool the bosses  by putting up a false show of  being engrossed in your work.

Definitely an eye catching  retreat for the female employees who can simultaneously do some bird watching  as well as work.

Although I am not a die-hard male seeker but I have a taste for the God’s creation ,be it nature or mankind.[Believe me if it was a beautiful nymph in place of him I would have definitely voiced my opinions from the male point of view J]

makes my ODC drool over him

Anyways!!! Thank God , he doesn’t work in my companyJJ.

This seriously calls a revamp of the desktop management system policy

The Oomph factor has turned 5,and the Unconditional factor.. 23

July 24, 2007

Following is a small conversation of feelings among the same person.
But the roles played by her are differnet :
Main characters :her parents ,her lifepartner, and ofcourse her
Her dual roles:The parent’s daughter (A)
                      The man’s beloved (B)

THE STORY THAT WAS:Her five yrs have passed in bliss, she being lucky enough to have her first luv as the last one, romancing him, understanding him and the essence of the relationship, facing the upheavels and the side-effects;the pains and the pleasures.
At this stage she was confident that she can spend her whole lifetime with this guy.

THE STORY THAT IS:Time has come to display her secret publicly ,esp to those ppl whose relationship she had taken for granted : her parents .Her parents enlighten her a bout the grave realities and the society views of this intercaste alliance. As the story continues this is a conflict of the emotions displayed:

A:How can i forget the beautiful childhood,a responsible education and the character that my parents have imbibed in me?
B:I cannot forget the art of trusting ppl, the value of money and relationships and the lessons of survival in this bad bad world taught by him.

A:How can i give my life-givers a future of disgrace and an embarrasment before  their kith and kin(well A’s parents are very orthodox)
B:How can i destroy the beautiful world that i have carved for him, the sweet family we had dreamt of and lots of love n fun.

A:Will my parents ever forgive me for going against their wishes??
B:Will he ever live happily after my injustice to him and can I face the future with a positive outlook??

A:I can sacrifice my 5 yrs for stability and certainity of future.
B:I cannot think of living a life full of regrets , lost love and a broken heart.

A:Things can very well change after marriage, afterall roses have thorns too
B:I can adjusted with the nuances of life defined by my partner but not with the change of partner altogether.

A:Ill have a whole family support in case of any marital woes, this comes with a guarentee
B:Ill will  rely on me,my instincts and my partner, this comes with faith and trust.

Does she have to care for the unconditional love of her parents who have nurtured her for 23 years  or the promises of the future which they had seen in this 5 years.
How can she trust the certainties on one side and predict the uncertainties on the other
And the battle goes on and on….
